Im not exactly sure where I stand on the whole relationship thing. Recent epiphanies have uprooted my system. I do beleive that we carry around soul fragments for each other and that alone is certainly a solid basis for wanting interaction. I may carry a little part of who you are, you may carry a little part of me. On the road to becoming whole we bump into each other and mix, then hopefully pop out the other side more healed as apposed to more wounded. I believe though that is all a matter of attitude. Be willing to learn and you will learn, wallow and you'll wallow. Not to say there isnt benefit in the wallowing. As the universe breathes there must be inbreath as well as outbreath. Heal yourself, heal the world is kind of a motto. My favorite thing to do is laugh. Music haunts me in a good way. I embrace both the dark and the light aspects of life as one thing.

I am a life-long Utahn and have recently returned to college to get a degree. Knowledge is the key to achieving all of our dreams. I believe we should all be whoever and whatever we want to be.

I love good food, interesting people, challenging work, and getting my ass kicked at the gym. I enjoy a good book as much as a good party. I'm busy, but I'm always up for something new. I'm intense about life, but not about relationships.

I like to read, I enjoy discussing politics and religion and in general the way the world turns. I'm a passionate guy when I'm talking or arguing, but I'm pretty laid back and I never take anything personally. If you like movies that make you think (or maybe just argue 'til you're blue in the face) or just good old fashioned action movies, we'll get along just fine and have plenty to talk about.

Some people might say I'm something of a man's man, a relic of a lost era where men were men and the women were women. I don't believe in shaving my chest, I really hate romantic comedies, I'm not big on shopping, and I like to drink beer. You won't see me in a bar sipping anything with an umbrella or a maraschino cherry in it. That said, I consider myself a feminist, and I don't believe in gender roles.

I'm looking for someone who is intelligent (not to be confused with schooled), beautiful and nice (I've been burned for my share and I don't put up with people who don't treat me well anymore). You should enjoy reading, and I would enjoy discussing books with you, but if you haven't read many of my books, that's okay too. I may recommend books to you at some point. That means I like you.

When it comes to relationships, I really need someone who isn't passive aggressive. I'm pretty perceptive and I can usually guess fairly well at what's getting at people when they're upset, but nobody is perfect and I would rather be told what's wrong rather than be ambushed by it later. It is important that someone wants to understand themself and me -- scito te ipsum. Scientia est potentia!

People have called me a lot of things in my life, but never "ordinary".

I have no idea how to describe myself. Intellectual, to be sure, but also somewhat physical. Real, yet imaginary. Idealistic, yet practical. In short, a big ball of contradictions.

Physically... well, I work out, and have improved my diet lately (am back in shape!). I have blue eyes and bald hair. I broke my nose when I was about 5, and while I am vain enough to want to get it straightened out now, I am not vain enough to suffer the re-breaking required for rhinoplasty.

Mentally, I am one of those people who remember too much -- I read a lot, and my head is stuffed with trivia, and if I actually watched sports and opera I'd probably do well on "Jeopardy!" for instance. I do watch TV (too much), but mostly SF shows and "Law and Order" and the like, and financial news.

I love cats and chocolate (especially dark chocolate: Lindt and Callebeaut, and Ghirardelli for cooking). I do make things other than just chocolatey desserts, and I am not a bad cook.

I am the type of person that enjoys getting to know people. I am quite passive, and often unwilling to make the final decision of what to do with friends or a significant other for a night of fun. I prefer to leave the decision up to everyone else due to how laid back I am. I can enjoy doing most anything, except maybe "clubbing" and I mean that in both the baby seal aspect and dance clubs. I have a very symbiotic personality. Most of the enjoyment I feel is directly correlated with how the person I am hanging out with feels.

I like making people feel happy and special. I can be an efeminite guy with certain things (I don't watch sports) and tend to have more and better friendships with females. I do enjoy certain stereotypical guy things though: playing XBox / console or computer games, though I really enjoy it much more when I am playing them with somebody (preferably a significant other). Board games and card games are a blast too. Cribbage, Horse Thief, Hell Bridge, Apples to Apples, Scrabble, Risk, Monopoly, and so on. I also really enjoy camping and hiking. I'm not a complete "mole-child", I just have no qualms being one.

I love seeing movies and finding out what others opinions of the movie were, what they liked and didn't like. I quite enjoy singing music that matches my mood, and that I know the lyrics to (or at least think I do). I'll turn things up and belt them out if I am really comfortable and think I can sound okay at the time.

I am spectacularly untalented at playing Guitar Hero, or anything of the sort. The only musical instrument that I ever played was the Trumpet during Junior High and High School, haven't played it since.

I'm the type of person that really enjoys going out on dates with the person I am involved with, or spending time at home with them. Some would probably consider me needy, but I understand people wanting alone/"me" time too.

I like to experiment with cooking, but usualy only when I have help. I live my life by bouncing ideas off of somebody else, I can't stress that enough. When I come home from work my strongest desire is to have somebody to come home to, not as in they stay at home, but meaning that they will actually be interested in how my day was, and ask. And I would ask how their day was too, since when I am in a relationship I am interested in that persons daily life, because they are such a large part of mine.

I am also the type of guy who tries to stay friends with his ex's. I still talk with my (ex)girlfriend of ten years. I have a hard time not being friends with her since there was so much time spent together and we still get along very well. I am understanding of peoples desire to stay in touch. When you love somebody for that long, it doesn't go away after the break up (unless there was some major emotional damage, or any physical harm done), it changes.

I'm an athletic guy. I like to run and bike mostly and also enjoy going hiking or skiing up in the mountains. Also, give me a frisbee and I will be happy all day. I enjoy listening to music and watching movies to relax.

I'm not from around here. I'm originally from the northeast and only moved to Utah about a year ago. I grew up in Boston but went to school in Upstate NY. I then became a high school teacher and worked in New Jersey for a few years. Now I'm in SLC and loving it out here. The mountains are beautiful, the weather is amazing, and the people, the ones I've met, most of them, are awesome. I doubt that I'll spend the rest of my life here, but it's been a great experience so far.

Hmm Music is a huge part of my life, I am a musician and a producer so i spend a lot of time around music in one way shape or form. I was raised in America until i was 13 then i lived in Scotland for 3 years then moved back out to America. But even though i was raised in America for 13 years my father raised me how his father raised him and that is like a northern scot. I love to think about and research my family history and Scotland's history. I am 18 but most people who have a conversation with me think im at least in my mid 20's, so my mind doesn't fit my number as my father says. but other than that i love hanging out with my friends and my family, and I would like a girl who isn't scared to introduce me to her family or to hang out with mine, cause im very family oriented. While technically I'm supposed to be writing about myself, what I really like to write about is nothing at all. I can often be found wasting your time. Some people find this time-wasting ability of mine amusing. If you're one of those people, you're very weird, but I'll forgive you.

I'm pretty good (but by no means perfect) at forgiving people for stuff. This is probably because I tend to find human quirks and failings fascinating. Not quite in a "you like to douse cats in gasoline and set them aflame... how lovely!" way, more in a "practically perfect people are boring" kind of way.

I like to run. I like the rain. I like to run in the rain. Therefore, I am probably going to be blasted by lightning any day now, because I am being UNSAFE. And yet... I've made it this far, which says that I am either a) lucky, b) agile enough to dodge lightning bolts, or c) wearing rubber underpants everywhere I go. Somebody else might draw other conclusions, but I think I've covered the basics.

I'm open-minded, which is sometimes a synonym for empty-headed, but at least this way when I do my running in the rain I get brainwashed for free. If you catch me right after a good storm, you can mold my mind like cherry Play-Doh. And my brains are almost as tasty. Not that I habitually gnaw on my own brains -- I'm just reporting on what I've been told. In a double blind taste test, 4 out of 5 zombies preferred my brains over the average dentist's.

Is your time wasted yet? Try reading this while standing on your head. The rush of blood to your brain might confuse you into thinking I have something to say. If you still feel you haven't wasted enough time, I officially concede the victory to you and grant you seven ennui points, which are good for absolutely nothing.

When I'm not running in the rain, I enjoy being outdoors for other activities such as walking (ambling, moseying, or strolling are also acceptable), hiking (like walking, but with altitude!) and probably any sport that I'm not expected to be good at. Indoors, I'm almost indefinitely distractible by card or board games such as Settlers of Catan, and sci-fi or fantasy novels. Oh, and I'm pretty content watching cartoons or the Daily Show and the Colbert Report.

I also like making eggless cinnamon cookies. You know you want some.

Ok first off my name is Kortnie. I've been on the earth for 19 years but I am mentally 25 years old. By day I am a director at an academically rigorous Junior High; by night I'm out with friends until the wee hours of the morning doing who knows what. Some people might consider me a quiet person; I see it more of me being a good listener. Random fun facts: I keep my DVDs in alphabetical order, but my books are in order of how tall they are. It just works better that way. I have three tattoos (don't tell the children!). I've written a full novel and have had a short story published in a sci-fi magazine. I have an incredible sense of navigational direction. I believe that years of playing Tetris has imbued me with a superior ability to fit things into spaces as efficiently as possible. I use a trackball instead of a mouse.

Just the other day I was thinking to myself, "What the hell am I doing on this site? What are my objectives here?" You see, I'm not a very lonely guy. I'm surrounded by funny, healthy, positive, interesting family and friends. If I have free time, I like to spend it with my nieces and nephews. So I came to a couple of conclusions: 1) I find it intriguing that my perfect match is out there somewhere and this might be the means by which I'm able to meet her, 2) I need an outlet for my sexual interests. I'm an anarcho-pacifist vegetarian. I've discovered Jainism and become very interested in other Eastern religions/philosophies, though I think that I'll give Mormonism another try. I do not prefer to talk about myself with no direction, but a few things that might be good to know is that once I am in a relationship that I think could see a future I am fiercely committed to giving my best so that I'll know for sure. I am very devoted and protective, but not overbearing. I respect people's rights and their space, but I'm a bit old fashioned, I suppose, when it comes to how I think women should be treated. I expect others to treat women with respect, and will come to their defense if I think they are being assaulted verbally or otherwise.

As for other things, my mood is generally cheerful, and optimistic. I don't let most things get me down, but a few things are instant downers. I like to have fun. I am usually up for anything, mixing it up. I have major passions in life; travel, and performance art are among a couple. I have a great job that I am also very passionate about. I grew up here, but have lived in a few different places around the world...some exciting, some not so. I came back here from living in NYC for the past 4 years and finally feel at home. I just landed a new job as a Chemist for the state government. I did a semester of grad school in the U.P. of Michigan in biochemistry last year. Previously, I was in Salt Lake working for big pharma. Before that, I did a 6 month long geology internship in Sacramento. Previous to that, I graduated from the U. I move around a lot. Here's another one of those list thingy's: I've lived in El Centro, Escondido, and Los Angeles, Ca; Dayton and Toledo, Oh; Cody, Wy; Boise, Id; and Quincy, Il. I know it's a lot, but it's kept me on my toes. I like a lot of outdoor activities, and can thoroughly enjoy a good bar.

I've become a fan of complete, open--and what some might call "blunt"--honesty. It might seem taboo at times... which I used to kind of care about. However, I've started noticing that the more open and honest I am, the simpler my life gets. That is is trogdor. I have 9 piercings. Including my 7/8s gauges in my ears, 2 gauge in my tongue, and my 8 gauge in my septum. All of my tattoos but the one on my calf has the same theme. I am scottish and proud of it. All of my tattoos have meaning to me. They all stand for something in my life. I have plans for more tattoos, not so much peircings. There is one that I want to get back again. I at one point in time had a total of 14 piercings in my body at once. The one I want back again in the one I had in the back of my neck. I am going to do implants instead of a surface bar this tikme though. They stay longer. Smaller chance of rejection. I am in the process of quiting. I was a smoker. I have quit before but I started again because of home issues. I am now in process of going through it all again. I listed myself as a non-smoker because I am trying to quit. I am doing very well.
